Trish single-handedly changed the lives of many.
If you seek peace, be still. If you seek wisdom, be silent. If you seek love, be yourself. Yoga is a method to arrive at the non-dreaming mind, to be in the here and now. It’s not all about being good at something. It’s about being good to yourself. Fond memories of endless fairways, gentle greens, and dedication to the endless pursuit of the perfect game... being good to yourself.
One person can make a difference, and everyone should try. How wonderful is it that nobody needs to wait a single moment to improve the world. Patricia M. McAleavy did just that. If we can just treat each other as if we are geniuses, poets, and artists, we have a better chance of becoming that. Trish single-handedly changed the lives of many. As Mother Teresa said, "It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving." Love grows by giving. The love we give away is the only love we keep. The way to retain love is to give it away. On Tuesday September 1, 2026, we learned what it was like to give love away. Trish passed away at Harmony Village in Cherry Hill after just 69 years. One day we will know what it was like to love her with wonder, not grief.
Trish was born in the “Ironbound” section of Newark, New Jersey, during a time of youth-driven revolution defined by the explosive rise of rock ‘n’ roll, and she spent her formative years there. She earned her B.A. in Psychology, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University and completed her Master’s degree at the Rutgers School of Social Work. She also became licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and was nationally recognized as a Board Certified Diplomat.
Trish first moved to the Poconos with her daughter and former husband, where she became the Director of the Family-Based Program at Monroe County Mental Health (MHMR) in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. She continued her career at the ReDCo Group, where she served as Vice President of Behavioral Health Services, overseeing four counties. Trish was instrumental in writing grants and advancing deinstitutionalization through the Community Hospital Integration Project Program (CHIPP). She later returned to New Jersey and became a beloved Fair Lawn neighbor, where she spent her final working years at Bergen’s Promise before dedicating herself to providing supervision for those pursuing their LCSW licensure.
She treasured her summers down the shore and cherished traveling through Europe with her daughter, creating memories that will be held dear forever.
Trish held her faith close to her heart and found joy in teaching yoga, golfing, quilting, and sharing lively discussions with her beloved book club. She treasured her summers down the shore and cherished traveling through Europe with her daughter, creating memories that will be held dear forever.
Ms. McAleavy is survived by and will be deeply missed by her daughter Caitlyn Cuttitta and son-in-law Justin Kiessling. Trisha is the cherished sister of Maryanne McAleavy, Harry McAleavy and his wife Carmela McAleavy, Robert McAleavy and his husband Douglas Rowan, Sheila Heba and her husband Steve Heba, Joseph McAleavy and his wife Maria McAleavy and Teresa McAleavy and her partner Karen Kosowicz. Trish is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and close friends are invited to come together in tribute and to take comfort in one another on Friday, September 25th, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at McGee Celebration Creran Funeral Home, 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn, where a memorial celebration of Trish’s life will be held, with Fr. Walter Norris at 1:00 p.m. The time-honored tradition of reuniting those we love with nature will be held privately.
