Home is the starting place of love, hope, and dreams. It’s where love resides, and memories are created. MacKenzie loved nothing more than to be at home with her family. She had a serious love that was one of a kind. Brian was her lucky penny, and she was his 4 leaf clover. She was a fierce, loving mama bear to her children, and they were her world. MacKenzie had her own way with words. She was funny, a good friend, and a lot of fun to be around.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the unthinkable became the unspeakable. MacKenzie slipped away to that place between being asleep and awake, where we can still remember dreaming. That’s where we’ll always love her.

MacKenzie was born in Gloucester and spent most of her life here. She was a talented athlete throughout school and made a lifetime of friends. MacKenzie worked at the Berlin Walmart but loved nothing more than being in her own little corner of the world with her family.

MacKenzie leaves to cherish her memory, her adoring husband Brian, and her children, Sophia May and Brian. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her parents, Diane & Tom “Pop” Wirt, and will always be Pop’s monkey, her sisters Michelle King, Angela & her husband Dave Bathurst, Cathy & her husband “Budman” John Metzinger, Katie & her husband John Kamulda, Chrissy Lewis, her mother-in-law Marge McIntyre, sisters-in-law, Margie Benson and Meghan & her husband Dan Burkhardt as well as her nieces and nephews Justin (Madi) Locker, John Metzinger, Jacob Bathurst, Olivia Bathurst, Madison Kamulda, Allison Kamulda, Bradon Kamulda, Steve Benson, Brooke Benson, Eve Burkhardt and her dear cousins, the Lewis and McCormick families. MacKenzie was predeceased by her dad, Mike King, her brother, Michael King, her brother-in-law, Danny McIntyre, and her father-in-law, Daniel G. McIntyre.

Relatives, a lifetime of friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the McIntyre family. We’ll come together to take comfort in each other on Wednesday morning between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm at McGee Celebration Etherington Funeral Home, 700 Powell St., Gloucester, where MacKenzie’s family will share remembrances at 12:00 pm. A graveside tribute will immediately follow at Woodbury Memorial Park.
