Athletes are some of the most influential in our lives. They live in a place where skill collides with intensity, power, and will. Every move counts, testing discipline and determination. Sports and competition build character, how to push ourselves and discover our potential.
Joseph J. Tenuto could do almost anything. He was an accomplished wrestler, coach, and mentor. Competition drove him, even to outfish his son and brother. He was funny, had a big heart, and enjoyed working with his hands. Joe could fix anything, paint, and build. Most of all, he enjoyed working on that old GTO.
Somehow, suddenly, on Sunday, September 20, 2026, the unthinkable became the unspeakable. Joe passed away unexpectedly after just 47 years.
Joe had been a lifelong area resident and graduated from Collingswood High School, where he competed and later continued to coach wrestling. He worked in HVAC and later at American Kitchen Machinery. At home, he enjoyed spending time with his family, getting into the cards and family poker night. Life, unfortunately, never gives; it just lends. So, laugh and cry in equal measure. Celebrate that we had Joe, just for a little while.
Joe is survived by and will be deeply missed by his wife, Nicole (nee Wilkins), his children Joseph and Nicholas Tenuto, Jeffrey Colberg, and Gianna Peterson. He is survived by his father Joseph Tenuto, his sister Michele Turse, his brother Justin Orio, and his dear cousins JoAnne, Michelle, Frank, and John. Joe was predeceased by his mother, Kate (nee McDonald), and “Nan and Pop,” Joseph & his wife, Martha (nee Allegrini) Tenuto. He is also survived by his aunt Diane & her husband, Jerry Howard, as well as many other aunts and uncles.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Tenuto Family. We'll come together in tribute and thanksgiving to take comfort in each other on Monday morning between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm at McGee Celebration Creran Funeral Home, 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn, where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm. As an expression of sympathy, contributions can be made in support of his family during this difficult time by extending a heartbridge and tapping “donate now” below.
