On Friday, March 20th, Amanda Michelle Margaret Viola, age 40, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ. Known by family and friends as Mandz, Mandy, or her personal favorite, Aunt Mandy. Born in Montgomery County, PA, and raised in Oaklyn, NJ, she graduated from Collingswood High School.
Mandy was feisty, she was stubborn, and she lived life on her terms, not worrying about the future, but living one day at a time. Along the way, she impacted many people's lives, a lot of the time not even realizing it. She did this with her genuine, unconditional love. She didn't love with conditions, she didn't ask for love in return, she just poured her heart into every relationship and friendship she had. Mandy could light up a room, always cracking a joke; most of the time, it was inappropriate, but she didn't care. Her sense of humor was unmatched.
Many people were aware of some of Mandy's struggles, but in true Mandy fashion, she never gave up and fought until the end. She recently celebrated her 40th birthday and over three years of sobriety. Her nieces and nephews were her pride and joy, and a big motivating factor for her to stay sober. She made a promise to them and kept it until the very end. Mandy will fondly be remembered as a compassionate, empathetic, and giving heart.
We have many more memories than the road that stretches ahead. Mandy is survived and will be deeply missed by her parents, Al and his wife, Kate (née Graham) Viola, as well as her brothers Shane and his wife Haley, and Luke Viola (Lindsay). Mandy is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Fynn, Sloane, Nash, and Sawyer. She is the niece of Larry and his wife, Ellen Graham, Michael and his wife, Sally Graham, Felicia DeVito-Piccone and her husband, Steve, and the great-niece of Agnes Hanratty. Mandy is also survived and will be sadly missed by her many cousins.
Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Viola family. We’ll come together on Saturday morning, between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, at McGee Celebration Creran Funeral Home, 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn, where a memorial ceremony will begin at 1:00 pm.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Viola family during this very difficult time using the Heartbridge link below.
